Do CCPs increase dealer capacity? Sometimes but not always (Premium)

At a recent industry conference, one of the speakers offered the opinion that Central Counterparties (CCPs) increase dealer capacity. Like most broad statements it is generally true but we heard this more as a conversation starter than an assertion of absolute fact. We would restate this to say that CCPs can increase an individual dealer’s capacity under many conditions but not all.
