ISLA’s 11th securities lending market report notes uncertainty and faster pace of regulatory change

We are delighted to announce the release of the 11th Edition of the ISLA Securities Lending Market Report.

The report continues to provide a platform for us all to better understand the forces that are shaping our markets today, and the implications for market participants and other interested stakeholders alike. Once again, it considers the scope and depth of the securities lending markets globally, including the key role that they play in the context of broader capital markets liquidity, as well as the mobilisation of High Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA). With the demand for this asset class set to increase with the arrival of new uncleared margin requirements for derivatives transactions in 2020, this will become ever more important.

Our guest contributions, which come from Tadawul, Credit Benchmark and MarketAxess showcase industry expertise, fresh thinking and market developments, in the form of global capital markets expansion, the role of ratings in the context of better managing and understanding counterparty credit risk, and finally a regulatory reporting checklist for smoother SFTR compliance. Whilst the pieces are very different, they are very relevant and timely as we think about the future of the industry.
