Portfolio finance is growing up at pensions and sovereign wealth funds

A FISL 2025 panel on large pensions and sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in portfolio finance showed the growing sophistication of this market sector. There was a logical expectation a decade ago that asset owners would take over their own collateral activities but not much happened. Now however, more and more organizations are headed in this direction as evidenced by the growth of the Global Peer Financing Association, the focus on portfolio finance at our events and in subscriber growth for the Finadium subscription. While there is no one-size-fits-all model, it is clear that the non-hedge fund, buy-side market has moved past conversation and into active collateral management.
