US mutual fund and ETF seclending data causing trouble already (Premium)

The US Securities and Exchange Commission meant well when it mandated that all US closed end and open end mutual funds, and ETFs and Variable Annuities, report their securities lending revenues and costs. As we expand our own database on these filings, we’re finding that the implementation is not clean. We can see some difficulties ahead for asset managers and agent lenders.
