Nasdaq launches cloud data service on AWS

Nasdaq announced the launch of its Nasdaq Cloud Data Service (NCDS), which provides clients access to real-time exchange data, index, and fund data through cloud-based technology.

Users worldwide can now access Nasdaq data through a suite of cloud-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which use open-source delivery standards and a software development kit (SDK) that eliminates the need for hardware procurement, proprietary protocols, file formats, and leased lines. This allows for integration of data from disparate sources, and a reduction in time to market for customer-designed applications. NCDS runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is compatible with multiple cloud providers.

It was created to deliver lower latency and higher performance for entrepreneurs, fintech firms and traditional financial services applications, which will be able to connect to a variety of data products in real-time, including:

  • Nasdaq TotalView: All displayed orders for Nasdaq, NYSE and regional securities
  • Nasdaq Basic: Real-time Best Bid and Offer and Last Sale information for all U.S. exchange-listed stocks
  • Nasdaq Last Sale: Allows firms and data re-distributors to create products to support trading firms
  • Nasdaq Global Index Data Service (GIDS): Current and historical index data for Nasdaq Global Indexes
  • Nasdaq Fund Network: Valuations for financial instruments including mutual funds and CITs
  • Nasdaq Quandl: Alternative and core financial data via the Quandl platform
