The enterprise technology and operations model at banks has taken firm root. This is a technology stack composed of combinations of big, deep, core systems and smaller, more nimble applications targeted at specific problems. Technology vendors and their systems tend to be towards one end of this curve or the other, with a strong co-dependence between the two types of systems. The core systems are not nimble enough to expand their service level with a customer, while the smaller enterprise-ready solutions are not complete enough to stand on their own.
