A primer on crypto reference rates and custody for securities finance participants

All smart contacts need reference rates for asset prices, and crypto developers refer to this as an oracle. Reference prices for securities loans and repo transactions are well known and readily available. It is unlikely that a lender or borrower of equities would question the closing price of a security traded on a major exchange. The same situation is not true for crypto however, since there is no one reference price worldwide for every coin or token on every platform.
