The cash management environment has changed beyond recognition since the financial crisis. High cash balances, close to zero interest rates, scarcity of traditional product, unpredictable credit conditions, uncertainty around the prospects for inflation and wide-ranging regulatory change across the corporate, banking and money market sectors provide a less than ideal backdrop for investing excess liquidity. However, change also inevitably brings opportunity.
In this article, we provide a brief summary of seven themes that we believe should underpin the creation of a successful cash management strategy. The article is targeted at those working in treasury or finance functions but we hope that the themes will be of more general interest also.
