Highlights from BIS’ 970-page tome on big data for central banks

Getting the most out of big data and the advanced technologies used to make sense of it is no trivial task for central banks, and in a recently released report, the Bank for International Settlements communicated what the latest strategies and hurdles are for policymakers. As a matter of definition, big data is “the massive volume of data that is generated by the increasing use of digital tools and information systems”.
