Euroclear UK & International management changes

Euroclear announced that Michael Carty, CEO of Euroclear UK and International, has decided to leave Euroclear to take up a new CEO role at LME Clear. Carty commenced his Euroclear career in technology before holding several leadership positions, including as the CEO of Euroclear Sweden, where he successfully led the team in obtaining its CSDR licence.

Since taking up the role of CEO at Euroclear UK & International in 2020, Michael and the Euroclear UK & International management team have made significant progress in developing a compelling vision and strategy designed to transform Euroclear UK & International into resilient, modern, digital UK financial market infrastructure.

Chris Elms has been appointed as the interim CEO to provide continuity in the leadership of Euroclear UK & International. An internal and external search process has been launched to appoint a permanent successor to the role.

Pirum appoints Gary Messina to the North American team

Pirum announced that Gary Messina is joining Pirum as Associate Director for Sales Origination to further drive Pirum’s client growth. Based in New York, Gary will report locally to Matthew Lilien, North America Head of Sales. Prior to joining Pirum, Gary was a vice president in Client Relationship Management at Equilend. In previous roles, Gary worked at Citibank as an Agency Lending trader and in various support roles throughout his career in Securities Finance.

Matthew Lilien said in a statement: “We welcome Gary to Team Pirum. Joining our North American sales team, Gary will help further accelerate Pirum’s origination efforts and expand our client coverage footprint across our domestic suite of products with an immediate focus on helping clients navigate pending market and regulatory changes including the move to T+1 settlement.”

efinancialcareers: Deutsche Bank hiring lead engineer/VP for ASL overhaul

Deutsche Bank is hiring a lead engineer for its Agency Securities Lending (ASL) businesss. ASL is being re-engineered into a modern cloud-native microservices architecture over the next 2 years from a single legacy front-to-back trading system.
The role will be responsible and accountable for engaging with stakeholders to understand complex requirements, formulating a sustainable technical solution, and designing and coding the most complex deliveries within the overall re-engineering program.

“Agency Securities Lending (ASL) is a significant growth area for Deutsche Bank, enabling our client investment funds to earn additional yield on their investments by lending their securities out in the market. ASL has also launched an innovative new product enabling our clients holding high cash balances to earn extra yield by investing their cash balances in short-term instruments,” according to the announcement.

AccessFintech appoints Christopher Daur as global head of Buy-side

AccessFintech announced the appointment of Chris Daur as global head of Buy-side. The hire comes on the back of significant momentum in the business and the growth of the Synergy Network, which now has more than 100 buy-side institutions connected, expanding the sell-side and custodian network.

Daur will lead the global buy-side strategy, product, and sales with a focus on driving engagement and client success. He joins AccessFintech after spending 18 years at Goldman Sachs where he was most recently the managing director focused on post-trade challenges, strategy, and solutions for the firm’s largest clients. Prior to that he worked in the Africa External Affairs Office of the World Bank. Chris is a member of the ISITC board of directors.

Karin Yorfido appointed president of Broadridge Canada

Broadridge announced the appointment of Karin Yorfido as President of Broadridge Canada. She succeeds Michael Dignam who will become vice chair of Broadridge Canada, taking on an advisory role. Yorfido, who is based in Toronto, will lead Broadridge’s Investor Communication Solutions (ICS) Canada and Global Technology and Operations (GTO) Canada businesses, reporting directly to Chris Perry, president of Broadridge.

She brings 25 years of financial services and software solutions experience, including over two decades at RPM Technologies.
Since 2021, Yorfido has held the role of general manager of GTO Canada. There, she worked closely with the GTO leadership team to further expand Broadridge’s GTO footprint in Canada, bringing new capabilities and next generation-technologies and solutions to Broadridge’s Canadian clients.
