Saxo UK: Spanish markets unscathed by power outage, but regulators on notice

In emailed commentary, Neil Wilson, investor strategist at Saxo in the UK, said that the IBEX has taken a major power outage affecting millions of people in Spain, Portugal and France in stride: “A major outage like this can cause chaos in financial markets and regulators around the world will be mindful about the risks that it presents, and rechecking their own resilience planning, even if it seems the Spanish stock market seems to have escaped unscathed this time.”

Whether energy outages or cyber attacks, there is always a risk that things can go down, he added.
