While net revenues have fallen by double digit percentages at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley from March 2015 to March 2016, quarterly results issued this week show both banks holding their own in prime brokerage and securities finance. The numbers suggest that while the banking business still must retool in the face of Basel III and domestic regulations, hedge fund financing remains a very viable business line. Meanwhile, capital ratios are also looking good.
