Net interest income, the ability to make money off of customer cash deposits, has shrunk at major custodian banks in 2020 due to low US interest rates and tight spreads. The actual reduction plus the expectation of lower net interest income for the next few years will have sharp impacts for custodians, their clients and counterparties.
