CBOE withdraws bitcoin ETF proposal

CBOE has filed a “Notice of Withdrawal” for its proposal to the SEC for the listing and trading of a bitcoin ETF issued by VanEck under the name SolidX Bitcoin Shares.

The application was made in June 2018. Media analysis focused on the US government shutdown as being a cause because of comments made to CNBC by VanEck’s CEO Jan van Eck. Numerous reports noted that approvals were held up by the SEC’s extensions in considering the proposal.
