ESG in securities finance isn’t just principles – it’s also culture and compensation (Premium)

The commitment of industry groups on ESG, including ISLA’s Council for Sustainable Finance and PASLA’s recent ESG survey, are moves in the right direction for the industry and the planet. Personally, we’re all in favor. But we’re also people who think about capitalist markets, and that means we look for how firms, shareholders and individuals are going to benefit in promoting ESG. It’s great if it feels good; it’s much better if you can make money while doing good.
