HKMA outlines sound practices for risk management in algo trading

After a review of algorithmic trading last year, the HKMA released a note setting out the regulator’s expectations on authorized institutions’ (AIs’) risk management for algo-trading activities, including some sound practices adopted by the more advanced institutions.

Those practices are detailed across a number of categories including: governance and oversight; development, testing and approval; risk monitoring and controls; and documentation.
