Some impacts of US$1 trillion in new US Treasury issuance on the repo and securities lending markets

The market has been forecasting a catch up in US Treasury (UST) debt issuance of around US$1 trillion since last year, when repo and securities finance participants started to wonder aloud who would buy all the new paper and what it would mean for bank balance sheets and borrowing demand. Coming into June, there are some new inputs.
