Finadium’s event calendar: a webinar on SFTR implementation, events in Zurich and Frankfurt, Rates & Repo and more

The Finadium events calendar is active in the last months of 2018 and growing in 2019. We’re holding a public webinar on SFTR, new and recurring events in Europe, our Rates & Repo conference is November 5 in New York, and the Finadium Investors in Securities Lending New York conference will return May 2-3 2019. Here’s what we have planned.

New York: Rates & Repo, November 5.

We are locking down the final pieces for our Rates & Repo 2018 conference in New York, November 5. With over 150 delegates expected including a large buy-side contingent, this event offers education, networking and forward thinking about US repo markets. We’ll lead off with a look at repo market liquidity hosted by repo dealers and cash investors, followed by a conversation on sponsored repo, also known as buy-side clearing. There will be a SOFR presentation: we’ll be talking about P&L, because where there is large scale change in market structure, there is P&L at stake. We’ll be discussing how the SOFR transition could occur, what new attention may be paid to repo and what that means for profitability. Other panels will feature buy-side and sell-side market participants on new services and tri-party strategy. Our keynote speaker is Caitlin Long, who after 22 years at major banks made the leap to senior leadership at a top blockchain company. She’ll be taking blockchain past the hype and presenting her views on what this new technology really means for capital markets. If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet, now’s the time. We’ll be sending out a Last Call for Tickets email next week.

Webinar: Implementation Strategies for SFTR, November 14

We announced a webinar for November 14, “Implementation Strategies for SFTR,” together with Murex and UnaVista. Like you, we know that there is a lot of noise out there on SFTR, so what’s new for our webinar? We will feature an operations and technology-oriented conversation for market practitioners to get under the hood of implementation. The market knows it needs to get ready, and this webinar will offer specifics about how that happens. We are pleased to welcome product specialists from Murex and UnaVista to help explain best practices. The webinar will be held on November 14 at 10AM EST / 3PM GMT / 4PM CET / 8PM IST and is open to the public.

Zurich: Securities Lending and Repo Update, December 5

We return to Zurich for our Securities Lending and Repo Update on December 5. This will be our fifth year in Zurich, and we are pleased to run this event together with ZKB, SIX and Natixis. This event is an open discussion forum with Swiss and international market participants, as well as regulators, on pressing topics in securities lending and repo that are impacting the Swiss market. In previous years, this conversation has produced some genuine insight into how regulators and market participants see the space evolving. Finadium brings our market research to the conversation, and we’ve included both presentations and roundtable discussion in prior years. Our thanks to SIX for hosting this event in their new conference center. This event is open to qualified market professionals in the securities lending industry.

Frankfurt: The Business of Collateral Trading, February 21

We’ve locked down the date for a new half day event in Frankfurt, The Business of Collateral Trading, on February 21, 2019. This event will engage the market, with an emphasis on the buy-side, in thinking productively on what is collateral trading and how is it developing as a business model. We’ve partnered with DekaBank, Eurex, Comyno and Frankfurt Main Finance to get going, and are very pleased to welcome Jochen Metzger, Director General, Payments & Settlements Systems at the Deutsche Bundesbank, as one of our keynote speakers. Building on our May 2018 research report, “Is Frankfurt the Next Collateral and Liquidity Hub?“, we are taking forward motions to expand our presence in the Frankfurt area. This event is open to the public. We’ll have a dedicated website for registration up shortly.

New York: Finadium Investors in Securities Lending, May 2-3

We’re already gearing up for our highly successful Finadium Investors in Securities Lending (FISL) conference in New York, on May 2-3, 2019. Our third year event will feature some returning favorite panels and several new breakout tracks. We don’t want to give away the secret sauce yet, but with the most and most active buy-side securities finance market participants gathered in one place, this event is a must-attend for the buy-side in securities lending. One of the things that differentiates FISL is our large number of hedge fund attendees. We will be increasing programming for this audience at our 2019 event including hosting a closed-door breakfast session. We are pleased to welcome returning partners BlackRock, Broadridge, BNY Mellon, Citi, IHS Markit and State Street, with more partners expected to be announced shortly. Registration is open to the public. (Looking for FISL London? We are revamping this event, moving to the Fall and changing up the programming to better suit the markets. Stay tuned.)

We’d like to hear from you. Would you like to partner with us on an event? Do you have an idea for a new event or webinar that Finadium should produce? Let us know at info @ finadium.com.
