Objections arise to ESMA expansion proposal

European Parliament members are campaigning against European Commission proposals to hand more powers to the European Securities and Markets Authority, saying ESMA would then overshadow national regulators’ influence. ESMA’s powers have grown considerably since its inception in 2011.
