What to make of the new OFR rule on bilateral repo data reporting

The US Office of Financial Research (OFR) last week issued a new rule on uncleared bilateral repo data reporting. This is a well written and thought out regulatory requirement – hats off to the OFR for a rule that makes sense. We review the information and the potential impact to market participants, especially compared to the bigger upcoming event of mandatory clearing.
